It’s finally here! Bedroom reveal time. I’m super excited about this and I hope you are too. I absolutely love how the room turned out. It took a few months of work…
Rearranging furniture. Painting. Thrifting. Moments of brilliance. Moments of frustration. Revisions.
And tah-dah, the final product:
I would like to add a large fluffy shag rug under the bed and chair. I just have to put some money aside first since rugs are not cheap.
This jewelry shelf was one of the first projects I did for my bedroom makeover.
I found this lamp at Goodwill for $25. I saw it right when I walked into the store and ran walked at a rapid pace over to claim it. It was brand new with stickers still on it! Target sells these lamps $50-$70. What a steal!
I added scrapbook paper behind these pieces of metal art to give it some character. Check out other scrapbook paper art ideas here: scrapbook paper art
Some pretty Goodwill finds. Isn’t the teapot adorable?
My gallery wall. See how I made the chevron floral art here. I like all the patterns and textures in the room. It brightens up the white walls. I was always bummed that I’m not allowed to paint the walls but now I’m digging it. The white walls draw the focus onto all the other cool things in my room like this sea green penny accented dresser.
This is a self portrait I made in a high school art class (sorry the picture quality isn’t the greatest.) Yeah, I know it doesn’t really look like me but I still love it. It was recognized as one of the best from the class and displayed in the community center. I can’t remember exactly how I made it. It was a technique where the colors were applied with some kind of wax and then the image was carved out.
The portrait spent quite a lot of time in storage but I decided it was time to bring it back out and reminisce on my high school days. I removed the glass from the frame so it fits in with the other (glassless) art on my gallery wall.
Tutorial for this nightstand: distressed tan and yellow nightstand
My one of a kind headboard! I’ll be posting a tutorial on that soon. I’m so happy with how it turned out.
The lamps my biggest splurge for the room. I found them at HomeGoods for $30 a piece. This is the first time I bought new lamps and it made me cringe a little. I normally buy them at rummages or thrift stores. But, these lamps were EXACTLY what I was looking for and the retail value is $60 a piece so they were a good deal.
Here’s a close up of the headboard. The pillow is from Kohl’s. I tied some lace (scraps from the headboard) around it to dress it up a little. My sister, Laura, made the crazy quilt for me years ago. It was one of her first sewing projects!
I love the collected look of this “nightstand” I needed something narrow to fit this small space. The base is an ottoman that I won. The white storage basket is from HomeGoods and the pastel green box is upcycled packaging from a skin care set. I found the ceramic bird at Micheal’s on clearance.
And there you have it. A complete 360 of my new and improved bedroom.
Here’s a couple before pictures to remind you what I started with:
This is all I have of my before. I started working on this project before I began blogging. The room was decorated dorm room style with the shiny comforter and beads.
About a year ago I re-did the room to look like this. It’s still not quite right. The room when from too shiny to too plain.
Now the room is finally perfect, ah!
What do you think? Do you like all the textures and patterns? What is your favorite thing in the room?
Thanks for reading,
Helen
